Horizon Bank Awards $10,000 Grant to ICCF Community Homes
Michigan City, IN – Horizon Bank is pleased to announce the grant awarded to ICCF Community Homes for their Community Homes Initiative in the amount of $10,000.
The grant will be used towards renovation costs as part of their Community Homes Initiative in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. The initiative is a long-term project which began with the purchase of two-hundred thirteen housing units in 2017. Their ongoing mission is to renovate these units into safe, dignified homes, keep the home rentals affordable and provide new homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income families.
David Quade, Horizon Banks Regional President of Central & Northern Michigan said of the grant, “Horizon Bank has been privileged to partner with ICCF since 2016 to help support the mission to provide affordable housing in the Grand Rapids community.”
Although ICCF Community Homes has made substantial progress, there are still a number of homes in need of repairs before they can be occupied. At the time this grant was awarded, 1721 Newark Ave was one of the homes in need of repairs. Their team recently completed the renovations on the house, and this newly subsidized affordable home has been sold to a family at or below ninety percent of the area median income. Additionally, the home has been tested and certified to GreenStar standards to ensure a reduced environmental impact and lower costs for the family.
