Horizon Bank Donates $50,000 to Otsego County United Way and Otsego Community Foundation for Tornado Disaster Relief
Michigan City, IN — Horizon Bank announces a donation in the amount of $25,000 to the Otsego County United Way (OCUW) and $25,000 to the Otsego Community Foundation (OCF) to assist with disaster relief and recovery efforts due to the devastating
tornado in Gaylord Michigan.
After the destructive tornado hit the community on May 20th, the Otsego Community Foundation set up the Tornado Response Fund for immediate relief, and long-term recovery and rebuilding. United Way of Otsego County is now taking donations and
responding to immediate basic needs.
“We keep reminding ourselves this is a marathon, and we are only a few steps in. It is partners like Horizon Bank that enable the OCF to provide local nonprofits the funding to make sure immediate needs are met and provides hope and sustainability
to help us move forward towards short-term recovery efforts and eventually long-term rebuilding. Together we can and together we will,” said Dana Bensinger, Executive Director of the Otsego Community Foundation.
David Quade, Regional President of Northern Michigan stated, “The widespread damage and devastation caused by the tornado is unimaginable, and we knew we had to provide financial support. It is incredible to see the community come together and help
those in need. We encourage others to donate and assist with relief efforts as they will be ongoing for months to come.”

families transition through their recovery,” continued Quinn.
