Horizon Bank Awards Donation to Inner City Christian Federation
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Horizon Bank announces donation to Inner City Christian Federation (ICCF). The donation, in the amount of $10,000, will be used to support the Community Homes Initiative Program that focuses on renewing and restoring homes to families – preserving these properties for affordable housing.
The Community Homes Initiative started back in 2017 when ICCF purchased a portfolio of 177 properties from an out-of-state investor. ICCF is currently in the third year of a five year $4,355,050 renovation period designed to create and preserve housing in West Michigan. The investor was an absentee landlord which meant many of the properties in the portfolio were neglected and not in good condition. With home prices rising much faster than wages the need for affordable housing is paramount for many marginalized families in the community.
While over 160 of the properties acquired by ICCF have been renovated, there are still 14 properties that need work in order to be safe affordable homes for neighbors in need. Horizon’s grant funds will help ICCF finish renovating one more house, for one more family in need of a place to call home.

The support we have received from Horizon Bank allows ICCF to provide a safe affordable home to one more family need. We cannot do this critical work alone and we are so grateful for this partnership”, continued Covington.
