Horizon receives it's first charter in April 1873 as First National Bank. The columns still stand today outside our corporate headquarters.

1933

Solidifying it's strong foundation as a bank customers could rely on, Horizon survives the Great Depression and continues to prosper over the next several decades.

1955

Horizon offers Indiana's first automobile drive-up and customer walk-up service windows.

1974

With customer needs at the forefront, Horizon establishes the first ATM in Indiana, keeping up with tradition of innovation.

1982

Horizon offers first adjustable rate mortgage.

1998

Horizon operates nine branches within two counties in northwest Indiana with $300 million in total assets.

2003

Horizon branches into Michigan, opening an office in St. Joseph.

2019

Horizon celebrates $5 Billion in total assets, making us the largest bank in Indiana.

The first bilingual branch was opened in Whiting, Indiana.

Acquires our first Interactive Teller Machine, and video banking becomes available to our customers.

2020

Unprecedented pandemic strikes. Horizon commits a six-figure pledge to provide aid to those affected by COVID-19.

2021

Horizon wins Best Bank to Work For, a prestigious accolade from American Banker.

2022

Horizon Bank becomes the first community bank in the country to be approved by the FDIC and Indiana Department of Revenue to organize its own community development corporation.

2023

150 Years Strong! Horizon Bank celebrates its sesquicentennial.
