Rusty is a Vice President and Producing Mortgage Sales Manager at Horizon Bank, serving clients throughout West Michigan and beyond.
For Rusty, mortgage lending has always been about more than numbers. “I really enjoy getting to know people, hearing what they’re trying to accomplish and helping them figure out the best way to get there. I try to keep things simple, give straightforward advice and make the process as easy as I can.”

With more than 25 years of experience in banking and finance, Rusty brings a broad perspective to residential lending. His career has included corporate finance, commercial credit, mortgage lending and sales leadership, giving him an understanding of not only mortgages, but the bigger financial picture that often comes with buying, building or refinancing a home.

A longtime West Michigan banker, Rusty understands the communities, housing market and relationships that make the region unique. Throughout his career, he has worked with first-time homebuyers, experienced homeowners, investors, builders and real estate professionals on everything from straightforward home purchases to more complex financing situations.

Rusty is a graduate of Calvin University and, outside of banking, enjoys spending time with family, being involved in his church and community, and getting out on his bike whenever West Michigan weather cooperates.
