Horizon Bank Appoints Northeast Indiana Advisory Board Members
December 2, 2015 08:37 AM
Michigan City, IN — Horizon Bank has established a new Advisory Board for the Northeast Indiana region as a result of its recent acquisition of Peoples Federal Savings Bank. The board provides oversight for 11 branches in the towns of Auburn, Avilla, Columbia City, Garrett, Howe, Kendallville, LaGrange, Topeka, Waterloo and Woodburn.
Dennis Kuhn, the bank's Regional Market President for the area says that the Advisory Board will provide valuable insights into the local market. "Board members monitor Horizon's effectiveness as a community bank," he says, "and they offer suggestions for addressing local economic conditions, and for expanding our market share in the region."
Additionally, board members help to educate others in the community, about the bank's mission, vision, and values. Kuhn says one of the board's first goals will be to introduce Horizon Bank to the community, and to help demonstrate the bank's commitment to providing exceptional service, and sensible advice.
Kuhn says that the bank's Advisory Boards are typically made up of business and community leaders who can offer a unique perspective on the needs of area customers. For example, he notes, "The Northeast Indiana Advisory Board is strongly represented by members of the agricultural industry, because farming is such an integral part of the local economy. And this is a significant customer base for Horizon Bank as a whole."

Kuhn says Horizon Bank is also addressing the specific needs of the agricultural industry throughout Northeast Indiana and across its entire market, with its Agricultural Lending Group.
Led by Larry Kummer (Market President for Northeast Indiana), and Joe Walter (Market President for LaGrange County), this group was originally part of the Peoples Federal Savings Bank. "We are very happy to have this expertise in agricultural lending as a part of Horizon," says Kuhn.
Board members look forward to serving the community and helping Horizon expand its reach across the region.
