Horizon Bank Announces Grand Opening of Grand Rapids Office


Grand Rapids, Michigan – Horizon has expanded its roots into the vibrant community of Grand Rapids Michigan. The office at 250 Pearl Street NW is located in the heart of the Grand Rapids art and business community.


With over 13,000 square feet of space, this renovated and welcoming office space has modern convenience, comfort, and services. Customers will be exposed to an innovative concept designed to personalize the banking experience. The open floor plan of the new office doesn’t feature a traditional teller line, but inviting areas that allow customers to sit down to conduct their banking transactions. 


Horizon’s team that will call this new location home is made up of several long-time banking professionals from the Grand Rapids area. They are: David Quade, Market President of Grand Rapids, Tammy Kerr, Vice President, Treasury Management, Denny Briggs, Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer, Kelly Hutchings, Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer, Kelly Ells, Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer, Joann Roche, Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer, Nancy Miller, Vice President, Private Banker, David Samra, Mortgage Loan Originator and Administrative Assistants Cindy Bodell, Amanda Buist and Amanda Callender.

Quade has devoted his career to the banking business for over 20 years specifically in the commercial lending arena. His expertise in leadership and strategic planning will complement his new role as Market President. Quade is active in the Grand Rapids community and is involved in Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Volunteers for Michigan Cleft and Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. Quade anticipates Horizon will establish a great community presence in the Grand Rapids market and looks forward to developing an exceptional team to serve this vibrant city.


Miller has over 20 years in the retail and private banking sector. Miller strives for personal client focused banking relationships and is committed to her local community. She currently serves as Vice Chair of Arbor Circle, was the Board President of Bluebird Cancer Retreats from 2006-2011 and the Board President for Pathways MI from 2013-2016. Her volunteer work has included East Paris Business Association, Women’s Resource Center and Habitat for Humanity. Miller is excited to join the Grand Rapids team and looks forward to showing the West Michigan market how an established community bank can offer exceptional service and sensible advice.

Roche has over 25 years of experience working with a family owned business and real estate developers as she has helped manufacturers, distributers and service providers approach challenges and create financial plans that work. Roche currently serves on the Membership Committee of Association for Corporate Growth, is a founding member of ACG Women in Finance and serves as Treasurer on the Board of Senior Neighbors. She looks forward to working with an established team of professionals and showing the Grand Rapids area a different side of banking that only comes from a true community bank.

Hutchings has worked with clients in commercial real estate, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, and professional practices for over 27 years. She is involved in the Michigan Women’s Foundation, the Athena Award Committee and is a volunteer for the Dolphin Tank pitch competition, food distribution day through local area churches and is on the entrepreneurship subcommittee for Michigan Women’s Foundation. Hutchings is looking forward to “raising the bar” for community banking in West Michigan.

Briggs began his career in the lending industry 15 years ago. He has a creative approach to lending solutions and prides himself on tailoring his clients’ needs in commercial & industrial, real estate development, construction and SBA loans. He is active on NextGen committee, a Deacon of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church of Lowell and currently volunteers at the Equest Center of Therapeutic Riding in Rockford Michigan. Briggs looks forward to offering customized, simple solutions that fit’s client’s needs to the Grand Rapids community.


Kerr has 25 years in banking, specifically in retail management, business development & marketing and treasury management sales. As a Grand Rapids native, she is very active in her community and is involved in the Michigan Association of County Treasurers, Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association, Michigan School Board of Officials and Southwest Michigan School Board of Officials. Kerr is excited to promote the Horizon brand in Grand Rapids and believes strongly that her hometown deserves a true community bank.

Ells has over 17 years of experience in commercial banking in the Grand Rapids and West Michigan area. She has a strong credit background and has worked with clients in commercial real estate, transportation, non-profits, professional practices and manufacturing. Her community involvement has included volunteering at the New Development Corporation, Feeding America, the City of Walker and the Kid’s Food Basket. Kelly looks forward to providing sensible banking solutions to business owners in all fields and professions.


Samra is a Grand Rapids native with over 18 years of residential loan experience and specializes in condominium financing as well as jumbo, FHA, VA, Rural Development and conventional financing options. Samra currently serves on the Forest Hills Central Athletic Boosters Board. David believes that communication is critical between the lender and the client and the loan process should be transparent and easy to understand. David is eager to provide the best advice and product to meet the needs of the Grand Rapids community.
