Michigan City, Indiana – David Pendley, President of Retail Mortgage Banking, is pleased to announce that Rusty Darter has joined Horizon Bank as Vice President – Producing Mortgage Sales Manager, serving the West Michigan market.
In his role, Darter will focus on growing Horizon’s residential mortgage presence throughout West Michigan. His responsibilities include residential mortgage origination, developing relationships with homebuyers, Realtors, builders and other community partners, and recruiting, developing and leading a team of mortgage loan officers serving the region.
Darter has more than 25 years of banking and lending experience, with a background that includes residential mortgage lending, mortgage sales leadership, commercial credit and corporate finance. Throughout his career, he has focused on relationship-based lending, developing mortgage professionals and helping financial institutions grow their residential lending capabilities.

Darter earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Finance from Calvin University. He enjoys being actively involved in his local church and supporting a variety of community organizations throughout West Michigan.
