Our community impact and support.

Being involved and giving back is more than just the right thing to do. It’s the best way we know to understand the needs of both our customers and community members. So it’s only natural that we would encourage our Advisors to seek local volunteer opportunities. Inspiring them to get involved in their individual passions and take on leadership positions in the community simply dovetails with our approach to customer service.

Horizon Bank Joins Hands, and Hearts, with American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Movement

INDIANA, May 10, 2022 — Horizon Bank of LaPorte County is pleased to announce an investment of $75,000 over the next three years to the lifesaving work of the Northwest Indiana American Heart Association, as the local signature Go Red for Women Movement presenting sponsor.

“Today, many women are struggling to juggle responsibilities more than ever. They are navigating career, family, and an ever-growing to-do list.  Yet their own physical health and mental well-being is rarely at the top,” stated Craig Dwight, CEO Horizon Bank.

“It’s important that all women have access to lifesaving knowledge of Hands Only CPR, critical education and readily available health information. The American Heart Association’s efforts ensure that at every age, every stage and every season of a woman’s life there is support with the information they need, when they need it.  That is one of the many reasons why Horizon Bank is honored to serve as the signature presenting sponsor to increase the Go Red for Women Movement in Northwest Indiana” he continued.

The funding from Horizon Bank will provide an increase in the chain of survival through equipping Hands Only CPR bystander education, risk factor modification education, and an increased awareness of hypertension which is on the rise in women, among many other needed charges for the mission.

Heart disease continues to be the number one health impact for women, touching 1 in 3 directly.

Go Red for Women continues fostering education, awareness, and hope, as losing even one woman is too many.  Since 2004, Go Red for Women has had a profound impact on women’s health.

As the trusted, passionate, and relevant force to eradicate heart disease and stroke, through the Go Red for Women movement, the American Heart Association remains steadfast and committed to meeting the comprehensive health needs of women — at every life stage.
