Get ready: Black Friday is almost here
The holidays are right around the corner. Are you ready for the biggest season of gift-giving? If you’re looking to get started on Black Friday, we’ve got a few tips to help you make the most of your shopping spree:
1) Find the deals you want ahead of time
These websites, among others, offer databases of Black Friday deals, so you can get a preview of what you’ll find in stores: www.bestblackfriday.com, www.bfads.net, www.bradsdeals.com/black-friday
2) Do some comparison shopping
There are several price-checking apps available. These apps let you scan a product tag with your phone to see pricing at a variety of stores almost instantly. Make sure you’re not spending more than you actually should, with apps like Amazon, ShopSavvy, or BuyVia, among others.
3) Shop early. Or late.
The truth is, Black Friday deals aren’t always the best. Often, prices are reduced even further once Christmas draws nearer. But if you’re not willing to risk the wait, stop in early. On some items, you may actually find Back Friday pricing a couple of days before.
4) Stay at home!
Most stores run the same deals on their websites as they do in stores. So if you’re not into fighting the crowds — or the weather — fix yourself some coffee, and hunker down on the couch to do your shopping. Chances are good that you won’t be missing anything!
5) Do you research ahead of time
This is especially necessary for big-ticket electronics. You might find a TV that seems like a bargain, but a quick online search for reviews can tell you whether it’s really a quality product or not. Check out Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and other big box store websites — or even Consumer Reports — for insights from others who already own the products.
Above all, have fun! Horizon Bank wishes you a happy and safe holiday season.
